STRUCTURE

Who we are

Our goal at STRUCTURE is to give everyone the opportunity to be surrounded by the beauty, structure, and elegance of mathematical patterns.

We are mathematicians, computer scientists, designers, and makers dedicated to bringing mathematical surface designs into everyday life. The two founding partners are Roger Antonsen and Laura Taalman.

Roger Antonsen is computer scientist, mathematician, logician, artist, public speaker, and author. He is Associate Professor of Computer Science at the Department of Informatics at the University of Oslo in Norway. With a PhD in mathematical logic and proof theory, and the author of the book “Logical Methods: The art of abstract and mathematical thinking”, he creatively combines mathematics and computer science with entertainment, philosophy, and engaging visualizations.

Dr. Laura Taalman is a mathematician, computational designer, author, and professor of mathematics at James Madison University. She holds a bachelors degree from the University of Chicago and masters and Ph.D. degrees in mathematics from Duke University. She publishes mathematical designs online under the name "mathgrrl" and has been featured on Adafruit, Thingiverse, and Science Friday.
